Fabric Labels - Steinthal & Co Collection.

Between 1916 and 1928 the upcoming American artist and graphic designer Edward McKnight Kauffer designed a large series of shipping tickets for Manchester-based textiles and cotton company Steinthal & Co. We adore the colourful charm of this collection and have lovingly reproduced and enlarged the original lithographs to be enjoyed as giclee art prints.

Each mini 4×6 inch work of art was attached to a bale of cotton cloth for export to South America and the West Indies - designed to be functional, rather than kept. McKnight Kauffer made his name in the UK largely due to commissions from the London Underground Railways group. He was regarded as one of the great graphic designers and artists of his generation.
